Seamless Steel Pipe Containing Rare Earth

Rare earth makes seamless steel pipes have better physical properties
Rare earth (Rare Earth) is a general term for lanthanide elements, scandium and yttrium in the chemical periodic table, a total of 17 metal elements. Its reserves are scarce, non-renewable, difficult to separate, purify and process. It is an important support for the manufacture of new materials. The key resources related to national defense technology are called "universal soil" and "industrial vitamins". Adding rare earth elements to steel pipes can improve its plasticity, toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and its physical properties can be greatly improved. Steel pipes with rare earth elements are currently used in wet hydrogen sulfide environment, high-sulfur crude oil mining and refining, shale It is widely used in the fields of gas extraction and transportation, bearing steel and so on.

Since 2018, our company has successively received technical documents for 10 (HSC) heat exchange tubes designed by Sinopec Luoyang Institute and other units. However, due to the different requirements for rare earth, vanadium and other elements and physical properties, it brings difficulties to billet procurement and manufacturing process. troubled. The company immediately set up a research group of "Hydrogen Sulfide Corrosion Resistant Heat Exchange Tube Engineering Technology Development", which integrated the requirements of the technical documents of various design institutes, and repeatedly communicated with the upstream steel mills about the starting point, adding location, adding amount and end point process control of rare earth. etc., it is required to reduce harmful elements such as sulfur, phosphorus and oxygen in the billet, to ensure that the rare earth plays the role of microalloying, and a billet processing agreement that meets the requirements of all design documents has been signed. Our company has formulated the corresponding production process in accordance with the technical documents of 10 (HSC) heat exchange tubes, and strictly controls the pickling and heat treatment processes. In the hydrogen-induced cracking resistance test (HIC), the cracking threshold value is 0.9~1.0Rp0.2, and the CLR, CTR and CSR values are all lower than the requirements of the design documents. At the beginning of 2021, Shanghai Gaoqiao Petrochemical urgently needed a batch of 10 (HSC) heat exchange tubes for maintenance. With sufficient raw materials, our company successfully delivered the products within 15 days, which was well received by the owners.

On July 1, 2021, the new version of the NB/T47019-2021 standard was officially implemented. The new standard clearly pointed out that 10 (HSC) heat exchange tubes should be added with rare earth elements (Re) to improve their corrosion resistance, which indicates that rare earth elements are used in seamless steel pipes. The application field has entered the era of standardization, adding some rare earth "pipes", customers use it well, and the enterprise develops better, and at the same time promotes the high-quality development of the seamless steel pipe industry.
